Our Big Boy Turns 1 Today!!!!

I can't believe Zach is 1 year old! It feels like just yesterday I was 9 months pregnant and every day felt like a year. Now it is the opposite. It was been such a joy to have this little boy in our family the past year. He always has the biggest smile for everyone he meets. He is fascinated with the fan and loves to watch it go around. He loves cars and balls and likes to bat at them with his hand. His favorite thing though is to have a sock in his hand and wave it. At christmas he got a truck and a tractor but the sock won out! He doesn't talk alot, probably because he is a happy boy and doesn't have much to say. The three words he says are mama, dad and bampa(grandpa). He loves to butt heads with his Dad(these are actually loves) and wrestle with him but still wants mom to hold him from time to time. He loves his Grandpa George especially when he takes him to see the doggies and does animal noises for him. When he gets older he will go for rides in the tractor with daddy and go on Grandpa Kenny's big terragator buggy. He has got some great men to be examples to him and lead and guide him through his life. He is a lucky, blessed boy. I can't imagine life without our sweet Zachary. Happy Birthday son!

Kendall's first day of preschool

So Kendall will barely miss the cutoff for kindergarten by 2 weeks. Her cousin Courtney, who was born the end of August barely makes it. So even though they are only 3 weeks apart they will be in different grades! I still cant wrap my brain around this one. Anyway, I will essentially be having Kendall for a whole extra year! I am just hoping she has grown out of her defiant, stubborn stage by then!!! My good friend, "Miss Robin" runs an awesome preschool. Addie went to Little Learners for 2 years and loved it. Miss Robin decided to let Kendall come for half of this year and then will go 2 more years after that. Her first day was the first Tuesday of this month and she thought she was pretty cool going to school like her big sister Addie. I am estatic that for 2 hours twice a week I only have one kid to deal with!

Christmas Time!

Wow, what a wonderful time of year. I love Christmas and everything that goes with it. The music, tree, decorations, yummy treats, family get togethers. It really is the best time of year. My birthday is also on christmas. It use to be annoying for me when I was younger, but I consider it a privilege as I am older to share my birthday on the same day as the Savior. He is after all the reason for the season as well as the reason we can have eternal families and live with them forever. I am so grateful for Him and for my family that we are eternal.

My most treasured time on Christmas is first thing in the morning before the hustle and bustle of the day starts of going from house to house visiting. Everyone is still cozy in their PJ's and we just get to enjoy each other and the kids with no cares in the world. Just love overflowing for each and every member of my sweet family.

Every now and then my mom gets the most amazing pictures. What is even more amazing is that those pictures were taken of Kendall! Nicknamed the "White Devil" by no accident, I would call it a Christmas miracle that these shots were taken of such a Christmas Angel, our sweet and sassy Kendall.

Addie's Kindergarten Christmas Party

I got to go help out at Addie's Christmas party at school. It was a fun time complete with a pinata, fun games and yummy treats. Their teacher Mrs. Godsill gave them each a book. They even got to make their own gingerbread house! Addie was really confident about it because she had already had some practice doing gingerbread houses at Aunt Stephanie's house.

Zach's First Haircut

I finally gave in and gave him a haircut. His hair was getting pretty long to where it was getting curly and girly and we can't have that going with a Green boy. Anyway, as you can tell by the pictures he hated every minute of it. But now we spike it and it is so cute! I will try to post a spikey-do picture soon.

YMCA 1 Mile Fun Run!!

The girls ran in the annual Canyon County Harvest Classic 1 mile fun run sponsered by the YMCA this year! They were so excited to do this. The weather was so cold and windy that day but their resilience was amazing and they still had smiles on their face after they were done! Addie ran with one of her friends and Kendall was my buddy. She was so cute. She would run as fast as she could and then slow down and walk and say "mom, I'm tired" and I would say "do you want to keep walking?", and she would say everytime "no I want to run!" and take off for another 30 seconds or so as fast as she could. Thanks mom for braving the weather and taking pictures!

Kendall Irene Green turns 3!! Late :(

I am so late getting a post up about my sweet little Kendall and her 3rd birthday! We did a Barbie party at home for the Green clan and Grandma threw a Dora fiesta party for the Grants! She had so much fun and would say "I love it" to everything she received. She is such a wonderful blessing to our family.

Thats about all I can say. It was pretty pathetic but hey I finished! It took me 2 hrs and 54 minutes. The hills on this were killer. I thought I had done enough work on the rolling hills out by where I live. Um NO! The second hill (actually it was the top section of a longer hill) was so steep you could walk as fast as you could run. Think middleton road hill but for a half mile. I had 2 major obstacles as well during the race. My first obstacle came when I had to make a pit stop at hidden springs. For those of you who would like to hear more of this adventure email me and I will gladly share as it is a little too graphic for a public blog, but a funny story! My second obstacle was at mile 10 when my knee started hurting so bad I wanted to cry. So I had to walk(limp) the last 3 miles. I was able to muster up a slow jog across the last little stretch to the finish line where I was greeted by my mom and my brother and his family. That was so awesome to see them and made me feel good. I have a goal to run it next year and be 30 pounds lighter(so I dont kill my joints) and run it 45 minutes faster.

Half Marathon in ONE WEEK!!!!

In exactly one week from today I will be running the Zeitgeist Half Marathon just outside of Boise. I can't believe I am actually here and I have no injuries this time!! Please pray my fat butt can make it across that finish line!!!!
The run is on November 1, which is my moms birthday, so I decided to dedicate it to her and her gift will be me finishing! That will be good enough motivation to chug out 13.1 miles.

Has it really been 3 months??!!

I can't believe it has been almost 3 months since I last posted. Zach is a big 9 months old today! He is pulling himself up and standing on everything and really wants to walk, but hopefully takes his sweet time for moms sanity. My cord for my camera is lost right now so I really don't have alot of pictures to update, but I have a few from my mom in email so I will try to get those posted soon. I also need to post about Kendalls birthday, soon, I promise!

yes words that came out of my 5 year old daughters mouth. I mean seriously where did she learn she needed a bra? If she watches tv it is disney cartoons, and I have never had any bra discussions with her. For the moment it has been put on the backburner, but I will take any advice in the comments section!

1/2 a Year Old

Zach recently turned 6 months old. I can't believe 1/2 a year has flown by. He went to his 6 month check up and weighed a whopping 19 lbs 1 oz and was 28 inches long. He screamed when he got his shots but recovered quick enough to give the nurse a smile before she left. He is sitting up on his own now and eating solids for breakfast and dinner. His favorites are oatmeal, sweet potatoes and bananas. Stuff we are still working with and getting lots of funny faces from are peas, greenbeans, applesauce.

4th of July

This is really bigger than Christmas at our house. This year we had over 50 people attend, it is almost becoming infamous. We had a bounce house and swimming pool this year which was great for the kids. Also there were plenty of fireworks to put on a show. We had high aspirations of cotton candy for the kids but the machine turned out to be a dud, thanks Aunt Steph for trying! We also had a popcorn machine like in the movie theaters and that was a big hit. Again, thanks to Aunt Steph. The food, as always was amazing. And it was wonderful having most of our Kern cousins and their families there. It was a great time!

Plant Family Reunion

This was held over in Eastern Idaho at Island Park. It was so beautiful over there. We had a wonderful time spending time with family and remembering why we love our Plant heritage. Thank you to the Kern family for being such great hosts and making us feel welcome.

Addie's First Year of TBall

After trying Soccer last year and sitting through game after game of Addie crying, we put her in t-ball with a lot of reservations. They were put to rest. She did awesome, and had a great time playing.

Half-Marathon Woes

So a couple saturdays ago I went out to do my 7 mile long run of the week and around mile 4 my foot, which had been bothering me a little bit the previous week, just started hurting so bad I could barely run. I had no choice to run home as I was out in the middle of the country. I could barely walk on it for the next three days. I researched all of my symptoms and I have decided it either has to be a stress fracture or a peroneal tendon strain. Both require at least 4 weeks of no running. Needless to say, this has been very frustrating and devastating to me, as I felt I was just hitting my stride, a stride with an extra 30 pounds of baby fat I have been trying to lose, this probably was very detrimental and contributed to my injury.
This most likely also means that I will not be running in the Top of Utah Half I just won't be ready. I will have to choose a race in September or early October. I was really looking forward to running with Sara and Emily and Jessica.

My sister is training for a full marathon, so I thought I would give a half a try. My main motivation is losing my baby weight. It is being stubborn this go round.
I am making it public on my blog so I will be more motivated to do it and keep my word. I am looking at the Top of Utah on August 23 in Logan. It is all downhill! So I thought that would be a good one for my first. Jessica will be running the full marathon in September. Kern girls, you should join us! I have changed my playlist to songs on my ipod that I love to run to, and could listen to over and over.

Addies Preschool Graduation

Addie had her preschool graduation and play on Thursday. She did a great job with her part. On to Kindergarten!!!!

I just wanted to publicly thank on my blog all of those people who either donated and/or walked in the MS WALK for our team Connie's Crusaders. As a team we were able to raise $425.00 to be used solely for research to find a cure for this disease. Even with the economy the way it is we were all able to dig deep and donate toward this great cause. This has touched me deeply and my deepest thanks go to all who participated and donated. As of right now the Boise Walk has raised over 85 thousand dollars!

Preschool zoo field trip

Last week Addie had her preschool field trip to the zoo. One of her best friends from preschool Halle was there, and they had so much fun. Kendall came along for the ride and had a blast as well.

MS Walk

This was the first annual MS walk that the Plant family in the Treasure Valley has done. And it is the first of what I think will be a yearly tradition. This was such a cool experience!!! Even though it was freezing cold and lightly snowing at the beginning, we all felt warm inside because this

was such a great cause we were walking for. We love you Connie! My mom got some great pictures so enjoy.

Addison Turns 5 Years Old

Addie turned 5 years old on April 3rd. It is weird to think I have a 5 year old who will be going into kindergarten next year. She will be gone before I blink. Her party was Hannah Montana to the max. Grandma made this rockin' Hannah Montana Guitar birthday cake and Addie got lots of cool Hannah gear like a watch, sunglasses, dress and tshirt as the pictures show. Her big gift was a new bike. It is disney princess and has a backpack and waterbottle just like she wanted. She has rode it just about everyday since she got it.

She also got this water hopscotch from her cousin Brooklyn and has asked, no less than once per day sometimes 10 times per day if she can go out and play on it. If only it would warm up around here.

We waited all week long for semi nice weather and it finally came saturday so we took advantage and walked to the playground, well Addie rode her scooter about half way and then got tired, so funny. Anyway I took some pictures.

This was a fun easter to take pictures with all the kids outfits. Mom was down in Salt Lake so I had to do the best I could with my camera and ability!!! Addie couldn't believe that easter bunny knew to bring her Hannah Montana panties and couldnt believe he gipped her brother with no candy.

Zach's 2 month Check up

Zach went in Friday for his 2 month check up. He is doing very well. He weighed 12 lbs 2 oz and was 23 inches long, which is how long Addie was when she was born! He ranks still 68% for his weight and 55% for his length. I guess he just seems so chubby because he is short! He received three shots which he did not like and let everyone know but he calmed down pretty fast. Kendall had to get her 2nd Hep A shot and she was such a big girl to go first and show Zach how to do it. She cried for 2 seconds until they put the Barbie band aid on it and she was fine.

Preschool Picture Day!

Addie had her class preschool picture taken on Monday so I took a couple shots of her. She got dressed up in her easter dress and let me curl her hair. She also put on her favorite Hannah Montana lip gloss. She is growing up so fast. I cant believe she will be in kindergarten next year.

The resilience of children

So last night I woke up to feed Zach and I saw Kendall laying on the floor of her room with a towel over her for a blanket. I asked her why she was on the floor and she said her bed was yucky. I went and checked and she had thrown up all over her bed and it was all over in her hair. So I gave her a bath and let her come out to the couch to watch her favorite movie, Shrek. She continued to throw up all night, her little body just convulsing from the dry heaves, but after everytime she was done she told me "I all better" Aren't children just the most resilient little beings ever. Well this morning she has been up and at em singing. She put on her new Easter dress from Grandma Connie and then her latest thing is to wear her bicycle helmet around her neck and just wear it around the house. I had to take a couple pictures and share them.

Zach's Follow Up Doctor Appointment

So the good news is Zach's lungs sound really good. The doctor said while the infection is gone his lungs will still be inflammed for quite a while. He is still working a little harder than normal to breathe but it is so much better. The doctor said that he will be more susceptible to breathing problems if he catches another cold or bug so I am going to try and keep those germs away.
He weighed 11 lbs even so he gained about another 1/2 lb in a little over a week. I was surprised he was only in the 68 percentile, he just seems to be a chunk. Plus I am use to hearing 90-100 with both the girls. The doctor also suspects what I already knew that he has colic. He loves to scream and cry. I am getting really good at doing things one handed since the only place he likes is the football hold on my arm. My left arm is going to get ripped while my right is a big ball of flab.

Zach Update

Zach seems to be getting better. He still doesn't sound great but he is eating better and not throwing up and he is sleeping better. He has a doctor's appt on Tuesday so I will update on that then. At the hospital a week ago he weighed 10lbs 9 oz, so he had gained 2 lb 9 0z in a little over 2 weeks! I am excited to see his progress over the last week.

Zach's Blessing

Zach was blessed on Sunday February 24, 2008. He was really sick that morning, but thankfully he slept through it. Travis gave a wonderful blessing. Afterward, my mom was able to get a lot of great pictures before we had to take him to the hospital.

This first picture is of 4 generations of Green men. Zach is the first grandson for Ken, Travis' father, and the first great grandson to carry the Green name for Merrill, Travis' grandfather.

RSV Nightmare

We spent two nights with Zach at the hospital Sunday & Monday. He had a cough and congestion since last tuesday but sunday morning he was throwing up all his feedings and his breathing had gotten worse. We took him to church for his blessing and then later at my moms after pictures and dinner his breathing had gotten a lot worse so we took him to the emergency room. I was a wreck. We waited 45 min and finally a nurse looked at him to assess the level of emergency. When they saw his oxygen level was low and how bad his chest was sucking in the got us back immediately. The nurse put oxygen tubes in his nose and he freaked out, I have never seen a baby so upset so I started bawling because I didn't know how to help him. Finally Travis just took it out and they gave us a hose with a cup hooked to it that we held by his mouth. He tested positive for RSV so they took him for a chest xray which after going with Kendall when she was 4 months I opted not to go watch him be put in the torture contraption. The xray showed he had pneumonia as well and they decided to admit him. He was put on oxygen for the first night which helped alot. They took him off the oxygen the next morning to see how he tolerated it and he did well so they left him off for as long as he tolerated it and by the next morning he had gone 24 hours off oxygen so they let him go home. Neither of us slept well. I feel like a walking zombie. He needs to sleep so bad but he is just constantly agitated, he will sleep for a little while and then cough and cry and I will rock him back to sleep. It is an endless cycle. The second night at the hospital he cried straight from 6- midnight and by about 10pm I was crying with him because I couldnt do anything. He was comfort nursing all night and finally after 3 hours of constant feeding and crying he threw up all of the milk all over me and his blanket. We were soaked. I was just sucked dry and he was still wanting to nurse. I just broke down. I was a blubbering fool and I was crying to the nurse, oh my goodness I was such a mess. When he finally fell asleep I was so relieved.
Anyway I hope this post makes some sense because I have not had a lot of sleep the last few nights.
Zach is doing better. His cough sounds terrible, and he still has raspy breathing but they are better. We are holing up in the house for a while. I can't believe he has slept long enough to make this post. Hopefully I can get another post with pictures of his blessing later today.

Zachary Kenneth Green

Just over 4 weeks ago we had a little boy named Zachary Kenneth Green. He came out looking like a little old man. My friend told me that it means he has an old wise soul. I liked that. He was 8 lbs even and 21 inches long. He is a joy and blessing for our family. Addison our almost 5 year old just loves him to pieces and is always vocalizing how much she loves him. She is very caring and loving towards him and is a great big sister. Kendall calls him Zachity and is always calling him cute, but likes to put things on his face and see how high he can go in his swing. She also likes to sit in his bouncer every chance she gets and it is amazing it hasn't broken yet.
He is just starting to realize there is a world around him and is trying to focus in on things and going crosseyed alot. It is so cute! I can't wait for his personality to start developing and for him to start interacting more.
